# Attribution Model

Canonical page: https://docs.sealmetrics.com/faq/attribution

Sealmetrics uses last-click attribution: conversions are credited to the final traffic source based on hit-level UTM data rather than user tracking, so campaign attribution needs no consent. Multi-touch attribution is not offered because it requires identifying users across sessions, which Sealmetrics avoids by design.

## What attribution model does Sealmetrics use?

Last click.

Under privacy regulations, it is the only model that does not require consent.

---

## Why not use multi-touch attribution?

Multi-touch requires identification of users across sessions, which is not compliant without consent.
Sealmetrics avoids all user-level tracking.

---

## Can Sealmetrics read and attribute UTMs?

Yes.
UTMs are captured on every hit and stored with no data that identifies anyone.

---

## Does campaign tracking require consent?

No.
Attribution is based on hit-level data, not user tracking.

---

**Note:**
- Attribution model: last click — the only model that does not require consent under privacy regulations.
- Multi-touch is not offered because it requires identifying users across sessions.
- UTMs are captured on every hit and stored with no data that identifies anyone, so campaign tracking needs no consent.
