First Steps with Sealmetrics
You can get Sealmetrics running in under five minutes: create an account, add your site, install a single tracking script in your page <head>, and verify data collection. From there you instrument conversion tracking and explore your reports — all without cookies or a consent banner.
If you use Claude, Codex, or another MCP-capable AI assistant, it can run this entire setup for you from a chat — create the site, hand you (or place) the snippet, verify the pixel, and check your conversion events. See Set Up Sealmetrics with Your AI Assistant.

Step 2: Create Your Organization and Add a Site
After verifying your email, Sealmetrics will guide you through creating your first organization.

Your organization is where your team and websites are managed.

You can add more sites later from the Sites page. To learn more about organizations, see Organizations.
Step 3: Install Tracking Code
Getting Your Tracking Code
- Go to Settings → Sites → [your site] → Pixel Code — the tab generates your install snippet
- Alternatively, run the Setup Wizard (Settings → Setup Wizard,
/settings/wizard) for a guided installation - Copy your unique tracking code and choose your preferred installation method
Installation Methods
Manual Installation
Add this single script tag to your website’s <head> section, replacing YOUR_ACCOUNT_ID with your account ID:
<script src="https://t.sealmetrics.com/t.js?id=YOUR_ACCOUNT_ID" defer></script>
The tracker fires the initial pageview automatically as soon as it loads, and exposes the global sealmetrics object for tracking conversions and microconversions.
WordPress Plugin
- Install the Sealmetrics WordPress plugin
- Enter your account ID in the plugin settings
- Activate tracking across your site
Google Tag Manager
- Create a new Custom HTML tag
- Paste your Sealmetrics tracking code
- Set trigger to All Pages
- Publish your container
Step 4: Verify Installation
- Visit your website in a new browser tab
- Open your site's Overview report in the Sealmetrics dashboard
- Check the Last hit timestamp at the top right — it updates within seconds of a tracked hit
- Confirm your visit shows up in the Entrances and Pageviews numbers
Testing Checklist
- Page views are being recorded
- Traffic sources are correctly identified
- Geographic data is visible
- Device information appears
Step 5: Instrument Conversion Tracking
Conversions are not configured in the dashboard — you instrument them on your website with a single JavaScript call. Once the tracker is installed, the global sealmetrics object is available:
// Track a purchase (amount is optional)
sealmetrics.conv('purchase', 99.99);
// Track a conversion with no monetary value
sealmetrics.conv('lead');
// Track a microconversion (funnel step or interaction)
sealmetrics.micro('add_to_cart');
Place the sealmetrics.conv() call wherever your goal completes — typically a thank-you or confirmation page, a form submit handler, or a button click. Use sealmetrics.micro() for intermediate steps like add-to-cart or video plays.
See How to Measure Conversions for complete examples (e-commerce, leads, signups, dynamic values).
Step 6: Explore Your Reports
Key Metrics Overview
The Overview report shows your core KPIs at a glance:
- Entrances: Sessions started on your site (Sealmetrics does not count "unique visitors" — that would require identifying individuals)
- Pageviews: Total pages viewed
- Pages/Entrance and Bounce Rate: Engagement at a glance
- Conversions and Revenue: Goal completions and their value
A chart lets you toggle between Entrances, Pageviews, and Conversions over time.
Reports in the Sidebar
- Overview: KPIs, trend chart, and the "Last hit" timestamp
- Evolution: Performance over time
- Pages: Page-level performance
- Sources: Where visitors come from
- Geography: Country-level breakdown
- Devices: Device, browser, and OS data
- Conversions: Tracked conversions and revenue
- Properties: Custom event properties
- Funnel: E-commerce funnel from entrance to purchase
Common Setup Issues
Tracking Not Working
Symptoms: No data in the dashboard
Solutions:
- Verify code placement
- Check for JavaScript errors
- Ensure code appears on all pages
- Check the Last hit timestamp at the top right of the Overview report — it updates within seconds of a tracked visit. If it doesn't move after you visit your site, the hit never arrived (see Data delay)
Duplicate Tracking
Symptoms: Inflated page view numbers
Solutions:
- Remove duplicate codes
- Check for multiple analytics tools
- Ensure single installation per page
Missing Conversions
Symptoms: Conversions not recording properly
Solutions:
- Verify the
sealmetrics.conv()call is present where the goal completes - Check the browser Network tab for requests to
t.sealmetrics.comwhen the conversion fires - Make sure the tracker is loaded before calling it (
typeof sealmetrics !== 'undefined') - Check the Conversions report with the date range set to today
